The 100 Minute Bible

The 100 Minute Press - £3

www.the100-minutepress.com

So what is it about? The world’s most popular yet least-read book - the greatest story ever told can now be read from cover to cover in less time than you would spend at a concert, football match or watching a film. The Bible, so complex and unapproachable for many, is now made accessible into an abridged version 50 short readings with 26 of these focussing on the life of Christ, 17 to the Old Testament and 7 to the later part of the New Testament.
Who is it for? It’s for people who want easy access into the central Christian story and also will be useful to Christians who want to revisit the big picture. Read this and you’ll see the whole sweep of God’s loving purposes for His world and its people. It is not aimed at children, but teenagers upwards who may not know much about our faith, but want to know why the Bible is so popular with 2 billion Christians worldwide.
Does it do what it says on the label?

I could say it took me 110 minutes - but that’s just slow reading. I found it got over well the central Christian story and explained enough of the Old Testament context and key narrative to make historical sense. It’s not meant to be a work of poetry, but a way in to the greatest story ever told! I am sure those who read and enjoy it will want to delve into a fuller version at a later stage.

Enjoy or endure? A great read - gives the chance to remind ourselves of the key messages for unlocking the mysteries of the Christian faith to others, easy to read from cover to cover or to dip into on the train or bus. If it was on CD could be great on the I-POD or MP3 player! A great present for a mate.
Any other comments? Priced just right at £3 means that churches can afford to buy copies to use on outreach programmes - size wise it fits into the pocket or handbag as well as a railway timetable and it’s more reliable! It’s also eligible for free UK delivery from Amazon on orders over £15.
