How many people do you know who own a white suit? Myron Butler with his 12-strong vocal ensemble looks great in their white robes of righteousness! Smooth, classic gospel vocals are blended with urban, funky baselines and a contemporary jazz brass section to create a rather familiar sound for a debut album. Myron Butler is a Grammy Award winner and has worked as a songwriter, producer and vocalist with Yolanda Adams, Natalie Grant, Donnie McClurkin, Smokie Norful, Men Of Standard, Donald Lawrence & The Tri-City Singers. However, it is not until you realise that Butler has long standing links with Kirk Franklin and was the choir director for God's Property, as well as a singer in the group, that you realise the pedigree. Almost all the tracks on this album were written by Butler and continue in the same theme as Kirk. However, Butler as the lead takes a rather softer, more romantic tone compared to Franklin's rawness, so the strength of impact is softened. The personal and theological themes are still there, but present the still small voice in powerful gospel harmony in a style that will be appreciated by many.
