| Describe it in 20 words | A compilation of operatic favourites, folk tunes, songs of devotion and film themes from child (now adult) classical singer, Charlotte Church |
| Big Themes/Standout Tracks | This is not a specifically Christian album, although the songs of faith include Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Pie Jesu', 'The Prayer', 'Amazing Grace' and the obligatory 'Ave Maria'. My favourite tracks on this album are the Celtic tinged folk tunes 'My Lagan Love' and 'She Moved Through the Fair', although 'All Love Can Be' (from the film A Beautiful Mind) and 'The Flower Duet' also deserve honorary mentions. This album may not be to everyone's taste (not all of it was to mine), but I have to be honest and say that it has the highest production values and for what it is, it is extremely good value for money. |
| Anything that lets it down | Charlotte Church is at her best on the higher-pitched classical tunes - she is very strong on these and has a voice that sounds much older than her age. However, when she attempts the poppier songs such as 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' and 'It's the Heart That Matters Most' her voice isn't as distinctive or strong. She sounds like a classical singer doing karaoke and probably should have left these numbers to people with stronger voices such as Celine Dion or Whitney Houston. |
| Who it sounds like | This album is quite a mixture, which is not surprising considering it is a compilation from many different sources. Some of the tracks have full symphony orchestra accompaniment, in which case think of any number of female opera singers. Others have light drumming and guitars in the mix, in which case think of light entertainment artists such as Celine Dion. |
