| Describe it in 20 words | 1980s-style pop songs with a worship flavour, from the long-running, Vineyard-based band, The Violet Burning |
| Big Themes/Standout Tracks | When I put this CD on I thought I had travelled back through time to the 1980s. The CD definitely has a retro synth-pop feel, but this isn't such a bad thing as it makes it stand out from your run-of-the-mill Christian album. "Lord, Rescue Me" is a slow, dreamy worship song, with an echoey vocal that makes it sound like the singer is up in a spacecraft, orbiting the earth. The highlight, however, is the closing track, "Manta Rae", a song of Christian triumph which builds slowly and gets under your skin. |
| Anything that lets it down | Not for those who don't like '80s pop. |
| Who it sounds like | The album brings to mind such '80s groups as Human League, Joy Division, A Flock of Seagulls, New Order and Depeche Mode. |
| Rating | **** Great stuff |
