| Describe it in 20 words | A smooth, soulful, highly professional compilation of joyful and uplifting praise and worship songs by gospel diva Yolanda Adams. |
| Big Themes/Standout Tracks | If you're feeling uptight or need to unwind, this is the ideal album to get mellow to - the aural equivalent of a late-night hot milky drink. The album starts perfectly with 'My Everything', with smooth piano playing and saxophone accompaniment. The more upbeat songs 'My Desire' and 'This Joy' are also highlights. This is a compilation of live and studio recordings, and it says a lot for Yolanda Adams' professionalism and the tightness of her band that it is hard to tell which tracks are live and which have been done in the studio. |
| Anything that lets it down | Almost. When track 9 started, a worshipful ballad called 'The Good Shepherd', I was expecting it to become overblown and schmaltzy with strings in the background and key changes. But Yolanda Adams manages to keep it to just the right side of tasteful. It helps that an enthusiastic gospel choir join her halfway through the song. |
| Who it sounds like | It reminded me very much of singer-songwriter Oleta Adams (ex of Tears For Fears) who I presume is no relation! This also might be the sort of album Whitney Houston would make should she return to her gospel roots. |
