Top band, Delirious?, get behind Church Army's word-on-the-web
site
Chart-toppers Delirous? were the headliners at the Alton
Towers Ultimate Event on 15th May, playing to a capacity crowd of 12,000
fans They were introduced
as: “The top band in Britain."
Backstage before the concert, Delirious? showed their support for word-on-the-web,
Church Army's innovative website that sends free daily Bible study emails
to 5,500 people in more than 90 countries around the world. They posed for
promotional pictures for word-on-the-web, one of the sponsors of the Ultimate
Event, just before they were due on stage.

Delirious? have written a week of Bible studies for word-on-the-web, which
will be sent to its subscribers over seven days, starting on Saturday, 29th
May. The studies are based on some hard-hitting verses in Romans and deal
with such difficult issues as sexuality and personal holiness. The studies
are powerful and hit home, and are definitely not for those who don't want
to be challenged.
In an interview for word-on-the-web, Jonathan Thatcher, bassist for Delirious?,
revealed the importance of the Bible in both his life and the life of the
band:
"The Bible is an integral part of Delirious?, and a lot of what we write
comes directly from the Bible. I think for young people it's actually quite hard
focusing on the Bible sometimes, and I go through periods of being extremely
into it, then it lies unread on my bedside table for a couple of months and
I feel guilty!" word-on-the-web was started over four years ago for
precisely this reason.
In our non-book culture, people may not work their way through a two-month
Bible study booklet; they may not even feel comfortable in a church - but they
will regularly check their email. Each day, word-on-the-web's subscribers read
a short, challenging Bible study, along with a prayer, delivered straight to
their email inbox. There is also New to Christianity - word-on-the-web's online
course for new Christians, or those who want to know more about the Christian
faith.
